Of course the Internet is not all good clean fun. For a quick overview of the really nasty stuff, visit HateWatch Inc.
Was a scuba diver really found in the forest as a result of a misadventure with the scoop of a firefighting plane? Sure you heard it direct from someone who had it on good authority. Maybe you won't be quite so sure after reading the Urban Legends Archive, which gives the lowdown on numerous such widely circulating stories.
Firefly is a fascinating site if you are into movies (or music). As well as having a comprehensive database of info, it has a nifty feature in which it asks you to rate some movies you have seen and then suggests other movies you might like. You can also enter reviews of your own, and read other people's reviews, create your own home page and visit other people's. Their policy and mechanisms for privacy protection (if you want to use it) seem quite well thought out.
If your computer does sound, check out the Australian Independent Artists' Network.
