goto: [Gilding Homepage] [History] [Reunion]
Note 22-June-2004: All genealogy information temporarily removed from web site while some additional privacy concerns are addressed. Please direct all enquiries by email to jack(at)gilding.com
This is the starting point for publicly accessible genealogy information about the descendants of Richard and Maria (pronounced Mariah) Gilding who arrived in South Australia in 1852. See the History page for early family history. We are planning a reunion for all the descendants of Richard and Maria Gilding in July 2002 - see the Reunion page for details. Family members with a password can also access the private pages - which are similar to those listed below but include dates, notes and sources deleted as per the privacy policy below.
You can view the information in two ways:
| Single long text file | Linked web pages |
| This contains all the descendants
of Richard and Maria in a single page. This is useful for
printing.
This page contains just Richard and Maria and their direct descendants (including adopted children and spouses) - a total of 382 individuals. |
You can navigate around the family tree starting with:
The family tree currently has 400 individuals in it as it goes back a couple of generations earlier than Richard Gilding. |
Special thanks to Bev Kirkman, Wendy Matthews, Heather Love and Basil Darby who collected much of this information.
The current settings for the public pages are that birth dates (but not locations) have been deleted if no death date is recorded and the birth occurred since 1900. The day and month, (but not year) of marriages since 1900 have been deleted. Notes and source document reference have been deleted. Getting the right balance between privacy protection and sharing information is a tricky issue and I would welcome your comments.
I maintain information in Family Origins for Windows. Data is exported using the GEDDCOM file format. For the public version, Res Privata is used to delete information for privacy protection. I then use GED2HTML to create web pages from this data file.
